February 11 marks the last Sunday before Lent and thus also the last Sunday of "Hallelujah" before Easter Sunday. Join us as we say "Goodbye to Hallelujah" - with all of our favourite Alleluia or Hallelujah hymns and a special performance of Leonard Cohen's popular song as the postlude (featuring soprano Alison Gresik).
Alison learned to play recorder in Grade 4 just like everyone else, and she's been playing ever since. Her amateur credits include an ensemble concert at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre in Kingston, Ontario, a solo performance at her sister's wedding, and a Royal Conservatory of Music exam. She has also played a lot of folk tunes and Taizé music at churches past and present. Alison loves the recorder because it is a simple, versatile, portable instrument with a lovely tone (just don't call it a flute). When she's not playing the recorder, you will find Alison singing with the St. Helen's Anglican choir and performing with the new Vancouver music company, Players & Singers.
