As Remembrance Day approaches a number of St. Helen's families are remembering loved ones who gave their lives in the cause of peace and a better world. This year at our Remembrance Sunday service (10am November 10th) we'll hear a personal story from our Rector, The Rev. Scott Gould of his wife's grandfather, Lieutenant William Chard 'Bud' Fairgrieve, who flew missions with a crew of 7 out of York and whose life was tragically lost over Denmark in 1944.
Hear the interview with Lieutenant Fairgrieve's granddaughter, Suzanne Morgan here.
A wreath in memory of Lieutenant Fairgrieve will be laid at the Altar during the service by his granddaughter Suzanne along with her three children, Chester, Veronica, and Phin.
Photos show Lieutenant Fairgrieve in uniform and his granddaughter Suzanne as a young child.
